We had a blast at a Star Wars Birthday Party last night. The costumes were amazing and the food was out of this world!

September 29th, 2011Here's a picture taken by Claire of three deer we saw on one of our evening drives along M-22 south of Leland a couple of nights ago. We saw around forty deer total including seven of them playing right alongside one of the back roads on the way home.

Famous Stecks: Ueli Steck
August 26th, 2011I have some Google Alerts setup for certain keywords and one of them is "Steck". Steck isn't a very common last name (at least in northern Michigan) so it's fun to to learn about others out there. Every so often someone interesting (and famous) turns up and this time it was mountain climber Ueli Steck. Check out the video below and then the link to see some of the amazing and daring climbs he has made.

Scenic Drive and a Fort
August 26th, 2011We had a fun evening a couple of weeks ago on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Every year we try to go on the drive and check out some of the scenic overlooks and this time we packed dinner to eat on Picnic Mountain. Luke always remembers the numbered signs along the roads and tells us what's coming up. The kids all love running on the paths and playing in the sand. It's become an annual event and every year we take a picture on the rock wall!
A couple of years ago on Woot! I found this fort for $4.99. I had forgotten about it, but the boys wanted to camp in their room, so this is what we ended up with...
